Many ancient cultures celebrated birth, fertility, sunrise and renewal of life, long before Christianity. Many present-day customs of Easter have their origins in these festivals. Around 532AD, a system for calculating the dates for Easter began and it is now celebrated on the Sunday after the Pascal full moon (between 22 March and 25 April). Easter eggs were a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in celebrations of spring. In ancient cultures, chicken eggs were dyed or painted, but a modern custom is to use chocolate eggs. Christians consider eggs to be ‘the seed of life’ and a symbol of the resurrection. Whatever your belief is about Easter, take time out with your family and friends, and reflect for a moment on peace, forgiveness and suffering in the world. Don’t forget, dark chocolate is good for your heart. A small bar of it every day can help keep your heart and cardiovascular system running well. So enjoy some chocolate this Easter, without feeling guilty! Wishing you all a safe Easter Maree Kendall
“Find a way to be thankful for your troubles, and they can become your blessings.” Anonymous Some of you may have heard that on 15 March I experienced a small fire in my clinic. That tiny little tea-light created devastating thick black smoke as it melted into plastic, spreading ash and soot damage to half of my house. You might say it was “burning off the dross”. Out of these ashes, many blessings have arisen: flowers sent from caring clients; offers of help from near and far from caring friend; the opportunity to de-clutter, re-decorate and re-focus my life’s goals. One huge blessing came from my dear school friend, Carolyn, who must have known something was going to change in my life, when she offered me a room in her beautiful practice at Castle Hill last year. I have been able to move my clients there with very little effort and continue working. “Thank you Carolyn.” Who knows what the future holds for me – perhaps sharing half my time between Quakers Hill and Castle Hill may be the plan. As I said at the start of the new year “I AM OPEN TO ALL POSSIBILITIES”. Little did I know what that would involve, but I am grateful as the blessings in my life continue to flow. This change has flowed on to my husband with some health challenges and a job change as well. So Bush Essences have been our friend, plus a little help from our friends, who have offered us therapeutic treatments when needed. We accept it all with grace and gratitude.
“All is connected … no one thing can change by itself.” — Paul Hawken The rapid rate of change in our lifetime has surpassed that of all previous generations.
